Electro-Magnetic Decoys (EM-Decoys)
- Electromagnetic (EM) decoys are devices that are designed to deceive radar or other electromagnetic sensing systems by creating false or misleading signals. They can take the form of chaff, which is small metallic strips that are released into the air to create a large radar cross-section, or flares, which are flares that are released to create a heat signature that mimics that of an aircraft.
- EM decoys can also include more advanced systems, such as radar jamming equipment or radar-reflecting balloons. The goal of EM decoys is to create confusion in an enemy’s radar systems, making it more difficult for them to detect and track real targets.
- EM decoys are widely used in military applications, particularly in the context of electronic warfare, and are used to protect aircraft, ships, and ground vehicles from radar-guided missiles.

Advancement over current Decoys
- Decoy is the deceptive system/ device used to draw an enemy away from a more important target.
- The goal of this deception technology is to divert adversary troops away from the main landing zones of our Defense Forces.
- The inflatable dummies are designed to present a realistic signature to enemy’s radar and thermal sensors.
- Land tactical decoys are dummy equipment like armored vehicles, bridging capabilities, artillery pieces, and radars or installations (buildings, bridges, and runways) intended to deceive enemy observers.
- We experimented and have successfully developed a unique solution providing identical signatures to the decoys as that of the real target, by using the Advanced Self-Signature Managing Coatings.
- It uses controlled Electro-Thermal coating to generate the thermal signatures in day as well as night time. Also, we have developed controlled Solar loading management coatings which produce the solar thermal signatures on the decoy fabric, identical to that of the real battlefield tank.
- The Electro-thermal coating also includes high radar reflecting properties, so that there is no additional requirement of any microwave reflector, etc.
